Mik Wright is a self taught shoemaker/leather craftsman, born in rural Africa. After 20 years of working independently at his craft in Africa and then England, he met and fell in love with Barbara Volk in the US.

Barbara’s work has been an exploration of many art forms, knowing at a young age that she wanted to be an artist. She studied drawing and painting at the Maryland institute of art where she discovered weaving and fiber arts. At the time they met, she was creating custom beadwork and jewelry. After 4 years of marriage, Mik’s years of shoe making experience has combined with Barbara’s varied artistic talents to bring THOSESHOES to a new peak of creative form and function.
